AFAS President Ken Eberts Now Offering Signed Posters Of Classic Event Commissions
Temecula, Calif., - May 1, 2008 - Automotive Fine Arts Society president Ken Eberts is offering a limited number of signed posters from two recent event commissions following strong demand from the auto enthusiast community. Eberts was tapped to create “Blastolene” (24″ x 36″) for the 2008 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Scottsdale, Ariz., in January, to celebrate the handmade Blastolene B-702 roadster that served as the “cover car” for the 37th annual automotive lifestyle event. “Muscle Car 1000″ (18″ x 24″) served as the event poster for the Third Annual Muscle Car 1000 in San Diego in October 2007.
The Blastolene B-702, which sold for $475,000 at Barrett-Jackson, was built by Randy Grubb and Michael Leads, who are better known as the “Blastolene Brothers.” At 19.5-feet long and nearly 8-feet wide, the custom roadster blends America’s passion of high-powered, large displacement engines with refined European design cues. The exterior is a mesmerizing midnight blue and the interior is finished in maroon leather. Eberts’s depiction of the Blastolene B-702 was used as the official 2008 Barrett-Jackson event poster and as the cover for the 2008 Barrett-Jackson auction catalog.
“It was an honor to create the official art for the renowned Barrett-Jackson auction,” said Eberts. “And they couldn’t have picked a more mesmerizing subject for me to illustrate. I’ve painted thousands of spectacular automobiles in my career, but nothing quite as unique as the Blastolene B-702. The entire commission was a great experience, which was capped off by being invited on stage for the sale of the car at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale.”
Eberts chose a pair of iconic muscle cars as the focal point of his “Muscle Car 1000″ artwork. The poster features a 1970 Plymouth Superbird racing nose to nose with a 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 on the deck of the USS Midway in San Diego. The poster represents one of the many stops on the annual Muscle Car 1000, a week-long luxury adventure along the California cost.
“Blastolene” and “Muscle Car 1000,” as well as other Eberts pieces are available through www.autoartgallery.com or by contacting Mr. Eberts at EbertsKen@yahoo.com.
As the president of the AFAS since its inception in 1983, Eberts is the driving force behind automotive art around the globe, and a testament to its growing interest. He graduated from New York’s High School of Music and Art and the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. After beginning his career as an automotive designer for Ford Motor Company, Eberts started his automotive art profession in 1968. Over the past 40 years, he has produced over 1,200 original paintings that are currently in public and private collections worldwide.
