Christie’s Unveils $200 Million New York Exhibition Of Spring Sale Highlights

CHRISTIE’S UNVEILS $200 MILLION NEW YORK EXHIBITION OF SPRING SALE HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights on View Include:

• Select Paintings from Major Spring Sales at Christie’s
• Spectacular Sculptures, Jewels, Watches, Photographs, and Decorative Arts with many on view for the first time

New York – Christie’s New York is pleased to present an exquisite collection of Spring Season highlights, open to the public from March 14 to March 17. This free exhibition highlights over fifty works of art from twenty categories and is valued in excess of $200 million. It includes major works by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Mark Rothko, and Francis Bacon from the New York Impressionist & Modern Art and Post War & Contemporary Art sales; extraordinary Old Master Paintings, Russian paintings and Magnificent Jewels; a rare Roman porphyry statue of Tyche and a million dollar rug from the Estate of Doris Duke.

Exhibition highlights include:

• Five superb works from the Post War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale, including Mark Rothko’s No. 15, 1952 (estimate on request), Francis Bacon’s Three Studies for Self-Portrait (estimate on request) and Andy Warhol’s Double Marlon (estimate on request).

• Spectacular paintings from the Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale including Joan Miró’s La caresse de étoiles (estimate: $10,000,000-15,000,000) and Georges Braque’s Verre et pipe Jour (estimate: $3,500,000-4,500,000).

• Beautiful portraits of the Princess Sybille of Cleves (estimate: $4,000,000-6,000,000) by Lucas Cranach the Elder from the Important Old Master Paintings sale, of the Comtesse de Greffuhle (estimate: $400,000-600,000) by Jacques Emile Blanche from the sale of 19th Century European Art, and Loge de Théâtre à Pékin (estimate: $1,800,000-2,500,000) by Aleksandr Evgen’evich Iakovlev from the Russian Art sale.

• Rare works by leading Asian artists including Zeng Fanzhi, Yue Minjun and Zhang Xiaogang from Christie’s first ever Evening Sale of Asian Contemporary Art and Chinese 20th Century Art in Hong Kong in May.

• A magnificent pair of George III Silver-Gilt Candelabra (estimate: $200,000-300,000) from

the sale of Important English, Continental Silver.

• A gorgeous silk Isfahan rug of Central Persia (estimate: $1,000,000- 1,500,000) from the Estate of Doris Duke, which will be offered in the sale of Rugs and Carpets.
