Hatching the Past: Dinosaurs come to life at Melbourne Museum!

What came first – the dinosaur or the egg? Find out the answer in Hatching the Past: Dinosaur Eggs and Babies, a new exhibition on display at Melbourne Museum from 30 May to 24 August 2008.

Never before seen in Australia, the exhibition features over 130 dinosaur egg casts, 15 complete articulated dinosaur cast skeletons, life-sized models as well as baby chickens, alligators and other live exhibits.

Hatching the Past will feature a variety of ‘modern day’ dinosaurs, including baby chicken hatchlings, baby alligators and baby lizards. The family-friendly exhibition also features the opportunity to touch cast dinosaur bones and nests, dig for eggs and experience hands-on learning centres.

Strong Sales and Attendance Kick Off Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach

Collector car sales remain strong after two days of No Reserve auction action at the 6th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in West Palm Beach, Fla. Combined automotive sales from March 27-28 totaled nearly $10 million with automobilia sales up almost 50 percent from last year. Attendance numbers at the Americraft Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds climbed nine percent from last year, as approximately 33,300 visitors enjoyed the first two days of the automotive lifestyle event. The auction continues today with premier collector cars scheduled to cross the Barrett-Jackson auction block. SPEED will broadcast the block action live from 2-6 p.m. EDT.

Sotheby’s New York and London to Offer Contemporary Art From the Collection of Helga and Walther Lauffs

This spring in New York and later this year in London, Sotheby’s will offer works from the Collection of Helga and Walther Lauffs, one of the most important German private collections of Contemporary art to ever appear on the market. This collection includes major works from artists ranging from Joseph Beuys, Yves Klein and Piero Manzoni, to Carl Andre, Dan Flavin, Tom Wesselmann and Robert Rauschenberg, and comprises important representatives of Minimalism, Pop art, New Realism, Conceptual art and Arte Povera. Approximately 34 works will be offered in Sotheby’s May 14th-15th sales of Contemporary Art in New York (est. in excess of $49 million), with further works being offered in London later this year in sales of Contemporary Art and Prints. The total value of the works being offered at auction is estimated in excess of $76 million.
