Ivan Broadwell Inducted into AANC Hall of Fame

On Saturday, January 19, 2008 I had the distinct honor of induction Ivan Broadwell of Fort Mill SC into the AANC Hall of Fame.
Ivan Broadwell was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 29, 1943. He served in the United States Army in 1968 and 1969 with the 8th US Army. Ivan became an auctioneer in 1974 and owned Southern Auctions in Fort Mill, SC. In 1999, he turned the business over to his daughter, Jennifer and since has worked a Senior Auctioneer and Appraiser.
Ivan was well known at the PTL Auctioneer from 1982 until 1991 raising over $60,000,000 over the nine years. He received his CAI Certification in 1983 and was appointed to The South Carolina Auctioneers Commission in 1990 and served until 1999 including two terms as Chairman. He was appointed to by The South Carolinas Auctioneers Commission to the newly created Investigative Review Committee and remains its Chairman today.
Always active in The South Carolina Auctioneers Association, Ivan served as President from 1987-88 and served a total of 21 years on The Board of Directors. He was the South Carolina Bid Calling Champion in 1988 and 1999. On Friday, January 18, 2008 he was named as Reserve Champion in The AANC Auctioneer Contest.
Ivan was previously inducted into the South Carolina Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 1990 and was joined in The Hall of Fame in 2001 by his wife Shirley.
Ivan is currently approved Certified Continuing Education Provider for North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee Auction Commissions and Boards. He is a charter member of the teaching staff of the Carolina Auction Academy at Stanly Community College, Albemarle NC where he is an instructor in Antiques at Auction, Estate Auctions, Auction Set-up Specialist and Power Point Auctions and Appraising.
Shirley and Ivan have two daughters. Jennifer, an auctioneer is married to Joey Church also an auctioneer. Their other daughter Christine is a General Contractor married to Rick Carroll also a contractor. The Broadwells have six grand children and one great grand -child.
We welcome Ivan to The AANC Hall of Fame.
