Members of California Auction and Real Estate Industry to Discuss Real Estate Market at 2007 Auctioneers Convention

October 2, 2007 – In a quarter trillion dollar industry, it pays to stay up to speed in the fast-paced, fast-talking world of auctioneering. To assist Auctioneers, the California State Auctioneers Association (CSAA) will host their annual convention on October 25-27 at the Holiday Inn Resort in Anaheim, CA. Seminars at this year’s conference will range from auction law, to the interest and growth of benefit auctions. A highlight of this convention will be the World Auctioneers Bid Calling Competition where the state’s best Auctioneers will compete for the prestigious title.
In addition to the seminars and competitions, this year’s convention will include a panel discussion between Auctioneers and Realtors® to discuss the changing real estate market. The fastest growing segment in the auction industry, residential real estate auctions have increased 39% between 2003-2006. This special session will include a presentation on the real estate auction market, as well as discuss the opportunities for Auctioneers and real estate agents to partner in today’s housing market.

In 2006, the auction industry grew by 7.1% in the United States with over $257.2 billion in goods and services sold. Automobile auction is the leading area of the industry with over $87.3 billion in vehicles sold last year. The combined revenue generated through real estate auctions (land/agricultural, commercial/industrial, residential) exceeded $56.3 billion in 2006. The newest segment of the auction industry is benefit auctions with $15.6 billion raised for charity last year.
